Antique Chinese Republic Period Porcelain Tile 1912-1925 Wu Jinhe Kiln, Chaozhou
Beautiful early Republic period Chinese porcelain tile with a hand-painted scene depicting scholar with his young attendant. Inscribed in the upper left corner and with Wu Jinhe kiln stamp on the back. These tiles were made in a kiln called Wu Jinhe in Chaozhou, Guangdong province, China. Martin van Straaten, a Dutch tile dealer in London, imported Chinese tiles until their quality deteriorated in the early 1920s. Van Straaten then sourced supply from Holland, sending Chinese tiles as samples. Tiles from Tichelaar factory show very similar designs.
Tile measures approx. 13×13 cm, frame 15.5×15.5 cm.

Antique 18th c. Worcester Fence Pattern Coffee Pot Dr. Wall First Period c. 1770
Rare 18th century Worcester blue and white porcelain coffee pot in the Chinese-style ‘Fence’ pattern depicting a scene with two birds flying above landscape with oversized flowers and scholars rocks behind a fence and with a building on an island in the distance. Marked to the base with underglaze blue crescent moon mark, dating this example to pre-1783 ‘first period’ also known as ‘Dr .Wall period’, c. 1770. Great piece for a collection!
