Antique Engravings by Pieter Schenk Title Page of PICTURAE SINICAE AC SURATTENAE
Rare antique etchings from the title page of Picturae Sinicae ac Surattenae, Vasis Tabellisque Exhibitae (1702) by Pieter Schenk. This album was the first example of a complete series devoted to a Chinese subject in European graphic art and one of the few chinoiserie albums thought to derive directly from authentic Chinese sources, such as ink drawings of famous people accompanied by transcriptions of Confucian teachings. Featuring two scenes titled ‘Ni K’uan of the Han Dynasty’ and ‘T’ien Chên and his two brothers’. Framed and glazed.

Fine Antique Japanese Satsuma Pottery Vase With Mask Handles Meiji Taisho Period
Beautifully painted antique Japanese Satsuma pottery vase with large relief moulded lion mask handles. Depicting a scene with quails and sparrows on one side and rooster with a hen on the other. Used as a lamp base with drill hole going straight through the signature so we don’t know who the decorator was. Wonderful example of early 20th century Satsuma ware.

Rare original Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada a.k.a. Toyokuni III (1786-1865) titled ‘In the Green Room of the Nakamura Theatre, Sakai-cho’ or ‘The Dressing Rooms of the Nakamura Theater in Sakai-chô’ (Sakai-cho Nakamura-za gakuya no zu). Part of a triptych and this example appears to be just a part of the original 1/3 print. Similar examples are dated c. 1813.
