Antique Japanese Carved Boxwood Netsuke Wolf and Hare 19thc Edo Signed Masatomo

Fantastic early 19th century, Edo period boxwood netsuke depicting a seated starving wolf (Okami) with a hare under his front paw. His eyes and mouth wide open, as if resting after a successful chase. Signed Masatomo 正友.

Beautiful pair of Chinese Republic period silk paintings mounted as hanging scrolls. Both depicting daily scenes with scholars, one being driven by his attendant and the other one, surrounded by scholar’s objects and meeting an elderly figure holding a flower basket.

Dimensions: each scroll measures approx. 90×20 cm. Paintings themselves are 78×16 cm each.

Really interesting Japanese Meiji period Kutani porcelain charger depicting a pair of figures framed by an intricate gilt border. Parts of the decoration appear to be missing, making the figure on the right look like it lost its head, which works well with shocked look of the other figure. Signed 大日本 九谷 杉川堂製? ‘Great Japan, Kutani, Made by Sugikawado?’

Antique or Vintage Indian Brass Hindu Ritual Puja Shrine Statue of Bull Nandi

Gorgeous Indian bronze/brass shrine figurine of Shiva’s sacred bull Nandi, depicted reclining on a rectangular pedestal. In Sanskrit, Nandi means ‘joyfulness’ or ‘blissfulness’ and refers to the emotions experienced by a devotee in the presence of Lord Shiva. Nandi symbolises the religious duty (‘dharma’) of a devotee. Nandi is worshipped by those intending to pay homage to Shiva himself.
