Antique Hampatong Dayak Statue Guardian Figure From Borneo Kalimantan 19th-20th C

Wonderful antique Hampatong statue, most likely by the Dayak people of Borneo/Kalimantan. Depicting a seated guardian spirit or ancestor holding his legs which are drawn towards the body in a posture typical of Hampatong figures. These were traditionally placed near the entrances to their dwellings or along footpaths leading to the river and protected villagers against evil spirits.

Height: 48 cm including the stand (figure itself measures approx. 42 cm)

Interesting large Japanese blue and white Arita porcelain bowl with relief-moulded decoration featuring a blossoming cherry tree and peonies, framed by a floral outer border. This example is not signed but the same pattern was produced by the Aoki Brothers (Aoki Kyodai-Shokai) and sometimes bears their underglaze blue mark.

Chinese Antique Ming Dynasty Lacquered Bronze Bodhisattva Amitayus 16th-17th c

Rare Chinese Ming dynasty gilt-lacquered bronze figure of a Bodhisattva seated on a lotus throne and holding a bowl with two lotus stems rising to the shoulders. Likely depicting Amitayus/Amitābha Buddha. Dating to the late 16th or early 17th century. Stylistically similar example in the collection of Ralph M. Chait Galleries has inscription and cyclical date corresponding to year 1593.

Interesting 20th century Chinese ceramic plaque with nicely hand painted landscape scene featuring mountains and waterfalls. Inscription to the top appears to date it to the cyclical year 庚戌 which in this case corresponds with year 1970. Impressed Wang Feng mark to the back.

Chinese Antique Export Silver Vase With Bird and Flowers by Sincere & Co 70g

Attractive antique Chinese silver vase decorated with a bird perched on a blossoming branch, looking at a pair of butterflies flying above. Base stamped with the mark of retailer Sincere & Co with letter S and Chinese form of their name ‘Xian Shi’ 先施 (short for 先施公司). Between them is the purity mark 90. Mark on the left appears to be character 壎 ‘Xūn’.

Rare set of antique Chinese black lacquered wine cups with silvered copper liners. Similar in form and materials to 18th century ‘lac burgaute’ examples but in this case without the mother-of-pearl inlaid decoration. All three with attached wax export seals. 

Dimensions: larger cups approx. 4.5 cm tall and smaller one approx. 3.5 cm tall
