Very rare collection of four Buddhist Tsakli initiation cards. Depicting Nagaraksha – wrathful emanation of Manjushri, precious Buddhist objects and a variety of protective deities. Inscribed with Tibetan script on the reverse. Ritual Tsakli cards of this type were traditionally used by Tibetan Buddhist masters during initiations and empowerment ceremonies. They are known in Mongolia as Burhany Zurag and were often used as centerpieces in their portable shrines (Gau).
Good antique condition consistent with age and usage. Some age-related discolouration, warping and loss of pigments as per photographs.
Largest tsakli measures approx. 9×10.5 cm
