Beautiful pair of antique Japanese porcelain dishes decorated in the style of Chinese Kraak porcelain. Traditional kacho-ga subject of a bird in a rocky landscape in the central section and border decorated in fuyo-de style with a series of radiating panels featuring auspicious objects. Nicely shaped scalloped rims and borders subtly relief-moulded with raised outlines of the radiating panels.
In good original condition with intentional crazing / crackle in the glaze and one short hairline extending from the rim of the second dish (this is a by-product of creating the crackle effect in the glaze by thermal shock).
Diameter: approx. 24.5 cm each
Origin: Japan
Date of production: Edo period (1603-1867)
