Large Pair of Japanese Bronze Vases With Engraved Military Inscription Dated 1903. Meiji Period

Beautifully shaped pair of Japanese Meiji period bronze vases decorated in high relief with mask handles, birds and floral motifs. Both with military engraving to the base that reads ‘Presented to Col. Sergt. H. Wyatt by Capn. H. L. Cohen N.C.O.s & men of F Co. 1st V.B.K.L.R. (1st Volunteer Battalion King’s Liverpool Regiment) on his retirement 23 Nov. 1903’.

In very good condition with only some minor surface marks consistent with age and usage. Both have some original casting flaws near their bases with several small pinholes visible.
