Beautiful large Japanese bronze cloisonné charger decorated with a large central medallion featuring Ho-o bird or Japanese Phoenix against a gold-splashed background. Central scene is framed by a ruyi-shaped geometric pattern and the cavetto of the plate is embellished by more foliate and floral scrolls. Reverse enamelled in a typical blue fish scale pattern all over. In very good condition with only minor surface wear and enamel crazing consistent with age.
