Large Antique Burmese Buddhist Wood Figure of Kinnara. 19th-20th Century

Really unique antique Burmese wooden statue of kinnara/kinnaya. Originally possibly part of a piece furniture or something similar. Believed to come from the Himalayas, they often watch over the well-being of humans in times of trouble or danger. In Southeast Asian Buddhist mythology, kinnaris, the female counterpart of kinnaras, are depicted as half-bird, half-woman creatures.

In good antique condition with typical age-related surface marks and parts of the carving being slightly charred.
