Antique Japanese Seto Porcelain Teapot by Kawamoto Masukichi II (1852-1918). Meiji Period

Very rare Japanese Seto porcelain teapot with two hand-painted figural scenes and gilt decoration all around. Signed ‘Kawamoto zo’ to the base and inscribed ‘Shusetsu’ by the handle. Shusetsu was an artist name of Kawamoto Masukichi II (1852-1918), adopted son of Kawamoto Masukichi I (1831-1907) who established Jikosha company in Seto and Tokyo. Kawamoto Masukichi II was one of the first manufacturers of export porcelain in Seto during the Meiji period.

Teapot is in very good antique condition without any chips or cracks. Minor loss of gilt and enamels consistent with age and usage.
