Fine Pair of Antique Japanese Satsuma Pottery Vases by Gyokuzan. Meiji Period

£570.00 winning bid

Large pair of very finely decorated Japanese Meiji period Satsuma vases, each featuring a continuous procession scene with three groups of figures. Interestingly, this pattern is not simply mirrored but characters on each vase are slightly different, as if the two processions are meeting in the middle. Each signed 玉山 ‘Gyokuzan’ to the base.

In excellent condition without any chips or cracks. Some age-related surface wear to overglaze decoration as per photographs. UV checked.

Height: 25.5 cm / 10 inches
