Large Japanese Kutani porcelain vase with twin handles, beautifully hand-painted in heavily gilded Satsuma-style decoration. Body with a continuous figural scene featuring scholars and their attendants amongst rocky outcrops, framed by gorgeous black-ground floral borders around the neck and foot of the vase.

Marked 九谷 大日本 英山? in iron red underneath – probably by Eizan Kawamoto.

In excellent condition with very minor age-related surface wear as per photographs.
