Finely carved 19th century Japanese wood netsuke of a human skull (dokuro) with a grotesque grimy looking miniature skeleton climbing over the top. Natural himotoshi between the eye sockets of the skull. Unsigned. In excellent condition without any breaks or losses. Various particles embedded in the grime of the skeleton were left uncleaned to preserve the surface.
