A wonderful pair of antique Japanese Satsuma pottery vases with mask handles. Each depicting a continuous scene with Buddha surrounded by his disciples (Arhats or Rakan in Japanese). Base marked with a generic ‘Satsuma’ mark è–©æ‘©. Stylistically similar to pieces produced by studio Hododa.

Both in excellent antique condition with minor age-related surface wear.
