Fantastic antique Japanese Satsuma pottery box with cover featuring beautifully painted scene with Seven Lucky Gods. Sides decorated with intricate, heavily gilded geometric designs and interior featuring additional depictions of Hotei and Daikokuten with children. Marked 喜多村 ‘Kitamura’ to the base which most probably refers to Kitamura Yaichiro 北村弥一郎 (1868-1926).
Excellent condition without chips or cracks. Some usual age-related rubbing to the gilt decoration.
