Amazing antique Japanese Meiji period Ishime-yaki ‘sharkskin’ glazed pot by Takeuchi Chubei (竹内忠兵衛), featuring blossoming branches set against a characteristic blue and white gradient background. Base marked in iron red with typical patent number and signature of Takeuchi Chubei. Interior of the rim is unglazed so it originally likely had a cover. Could be used as a brush pot or planter. Great piece for a collection!
In great condition with minor age-related surface wear. No chips or cracks.
