Fine Antique Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma Pottery Vase by Taizan Yohei IX

Sublime antique Japanese Meiji period Satsuma vase decorated by Taizan Yohei IX and inspired by the works of Kono Bairei. Featuring a continuous scene with sparrows and butterflies flying amongst the flowers. Base signed with typical black overglaze mark 大日本 帯山製 ‘Great Japan, Made by Taizan’ and with very faint impressed ‘Taizan’ 帯山 kiln mark to the right (hard to photograph). Beautiful, well-preserved example of unusual form.
