Gorgeous antique Japanese Kutani porcelain vase or a jar missing its cover (unglazed rim on the inside) with finely hand painted decoration featuring cartouches with birds and flowers, framed by a very intricate background with butterflies, dragonflies and a myriad of heavily gilded patterns. Base marked with generic Kutani mark 大日本 九谷造.
In excellent condition with normal age-related wear to overglaze enamels. No chips or cracks.
