Very rare 18th century Chinese export porcelain dish with brown-dressed rim and with later French ormolu stand. Authors such as Geoffrey A. Godden and others mention porcelain blanks being shipped to Europe in order to be decorated by Western studios but this is the first actual example that we’ve come across. Dish has been UV checked and there is no indication that it previously had any decoration.
In good condition with some glaze wear consistent with age. Small firing faults typical for porcelain of this period. Tiny split extending from the rim – this is original firing fault, not a hairline.
Diameter of the dish is 22 cm. Height 3.5 cm
Height including the ormolu stand is 13.5 cm
