Antique Tibetan Burr Wood and Chased Silver Jha Phor or Tsampa Bowl. 19th century

Lovely antique Tibetan Jha Phor or Tsampa bowl made out of dark burr (burl) wood with silver mounts. Inside of the bowl is fully lined and the liner extends over the flared rim. Beautiful silver repousse decoration on the bottom half and foot of the bowl depicting Buddhist auspicious symbols alternating with finely engraved pattern of lotus flowers. Nice example of traditional Tibetan art.

Good antique condition with surface marks and dents consistent with age and usage. Silver mounts have recently been polished.
