Rare antique Japanese Sumida Gawa pottery vase of a double gourd form, partially glazed at the top and embellished with a relief moulded bitter melon (Goya/Nigauri). Marked to the base with impressed 香二 (Koko) mark inside a double gourd. This is one of the maker’s marks of Ishiguro Koko 石黒香々. Really unusual example of this potter’s work.
In great antique condition as photographed.
