Unusual antique Japanese porcelain okimono in the form of an elephant with his trunk up. Impressed kiln mark to the belly which appears to be character 彷. We were unable to identify the maker but stylistically it appears to be c. early 20th century example of Hirado or Seto ware. For reference see a pair of similar elephants in the collections of LACMA, object number M.2000.173.2a-b.
Small rough spot to the tip of the trunk. Otherwise in great condition as photographed.
