Antique Japanese Meiji Satsuma Pottery Charger Style of Taizan Yohei 37cm

£240.00 + postage

Stunning large antique Japanese Meiji period Satsuma charger decorated very much in the manner of Taizan Yohei IX, even though it appears to be unsigned. Featuring beautifully painted scene with a kingfisher perched on a stump and swallowing a fish, with another bird – perhaps a sparrow – flying behind him. Scene is framed by heavily gilded border and foliage and set against a gorgeous blue background. Really wonderful decorative piece for a collection.

Small chip to the rim as photographed. Some staining and small tension line visible on the back. Displays beautifully!

Diameter: 37.2 cm / 14.6 inches
