Gorgeous South Indian bronze or similar copper alloy shrine figurine of Shiva’s sacred bull Nandi, depicted reclining on a rectangular pedestal with Shiva Lingam in the front. Nandi symbolises the religious duty ‘dharma’ of a devotee and is worshipped by those intending to pay respect to Shiva himself. Possibly a 19th century example from Karnataka.
Prominent age-related ritual wear as photographed.
