Antique Indian Copper Alloy Shrine of Lakshmi-Narayana. Gujarat, Western India, 17th century

Exceptional Gujarati bronze or similar copper alloy icon of four-armed Vishnu (Narayana) seated in lalitasana, with his consort Lakshmi on his left leg. Vishnu is depicted holding his emblems: conch (Shankha), lotus (Padma), mace (Gada) and wheel (Chakra). He is accompanied by his Vahana Garuda kneeling at his feet and by two attendants, one on each side of the rectangular peetha. Whole figure has a significant ritual wear to the surface with visible remnants of the original dark patina.
