Set of four Chinese 18th century blue and white porcelain cups decorated with a rural scene and unusual looking house. Gilt decoration around the rim and handle was probably added later in England. This pattern inspired several English transfer-printed versions produced at the end of the 18th century by various factories including New Hall, Spode and Worcester. It was commonly referred to as ‘Pearl River House’, ‘Malayan Village’ or ‘Trench Mortar’ pattern.
