Lovely set of three antique or vintage Japanese wooden seals. Small oval seal appears to be that of the Daikokuya Inn located in Toride-Juku Post Station, Shimosa Province (大黒屋 取手宿 下総州). Large rectangular seal appears to belong to a paper company and is inscribed 山梨飬蠶紙張製造合資會社印. Can’t quite make out the third one but it appears to be name stamp which ends in 三郎 ‘Saburo’ – perhaps some Japanese artist? Any info welcome!

Based on ‘Waike qixuan’ 外科啟玄 (‘Mysteries of External Ailments/Secrets of External Diseases’) by Shen Gongchen 申拱辰, originally published in 1604. Title is partially visible on the right edge of the first page from the back (see the last photo). Contains 85 pages with 82 illustrations, explaining origins of numerous ailments and how to treat them. Likely a late Qing dynasty example. Book measures approximately 20.2×12.5 cm.

Accompanied by a calligraphy panel featuring Tang Dynasty poem ‘A Night Mooring by Maple Bridge’ written by Zhang Ji and brushed by Qing Dynasty calligrapher Yu Yue.
