Antique Chinese sancai glazed pottery tripod censer (ding) with twin handles and feet with relief moulded heads of beasts. Comes with its own wooden collection box. Beautiful object for a scholar’s desk.

Antique Chinese Imari Decorated 18th c. Export Porcelain Plate. Scroll Pattern
Gorgeous 18th century Chinese imari decorated dish with nice strong tones of underglaze blue. Decorated in unusual pattern with inner scroll device featuring bamboo and peonies behind a fence, framed by more typical diaper border with floral sprays.

Fine Antique Japanese Blue and White Porcelain Dish Marked ‘Ken’ 乾 Edo Period
Charming antique Japanese porcelain dish with fine underglaze blue scene depicting boys playing on a large pierced scholar’s rock. Marked 乾 (‘ken’ or ‘qian’) to the base which is assumed to stand for Qianlong (乾隆).

Antique Japanese Yokohama Export Porcelain Dish By Nakajima / Nakashima 中島造 横浜焼
Very nice antique Japanese Yokohama porcelain dish featuring beautifully painted rural scene with Mt. Fuji in the background and heavily gilded border with Ho-o bird spreading his wings and tail feathers. Marked 中島造 (Made by Nakajima) underneath.

Fine Antique Japanese Sharkskin Glazed Porcelain Sugar Bowl by Takeuchi Chubei
Very beautiful blue-ground porcelain sugar bowl by Meiji artist Takeuchi Chubei decorated in unusual textured ‘sharkskin’ glaze (鮫肌釉). Depicting butterflies amongst falling cherry blossom and with foliate scrolls embellishing its flared rim. Base inscribed with characteristic patent number in black overglaze enamel.

Fine Antique Japanese Seto Blue and White Porcelain Tile With Quails. 19th c.
Finely hand-painted antique Japanese seto porcelain tile depicting pair of quails. Combination of quails and standing grain is a visual rebus that can be interpreted as ‘peace and harmony’. Marked with diamond-shaped underglaze blue maker’s mark on the back.

LARGE 12.5″ Antique Japanese Blue-Ground Satsuma Vase With Samurai Early 20th c.
Unusually large antique Japanese cobalt blue-ground Satsuma vase decorated with two panels – one depicting samurai warrior and the other with wisterias and irises. Framed by numerous gold floral sprays all around. Inscribed in the upper right corner above the samurai. Fantastic decorative item!

Fine Antique Japanese Kutani Porcelain Teapot and Cups by Kachoken. Meiji Period
Finely hand-painted teapot and pair of cups depicting coastal scenes with men and women collecting seafood and their children playing on the rocky outcrops nearby. All marked with nine-character iron red mark 大日本九谷華暢軒製 (Great Japan Kutani, Made by Kachoken). Kachoken mark often appears on works by Haruna Shigeharu (1847-1914) and decoration on these pieces is very similar to his style of painting.
Teapot measures 14 cm tall. Cups measure 6 cm tall.
Fine Antique Japanese Moulded Kutani Porcelain Vase by Watano. Meiji Period 綿埜製
Lovely antique Japanese Kutani vase of unusual ovoid form and with relief-moulded ruyi-head bands framing central decoration of birds and flowers inside cartouches formed from long tail feathers of Ho-o birds. Inscribed to the base with nine-character iron red Watano mark written as 綿埜製 which dates this piece most probably to late 19th century when the company was run by Watano Genuemon (綿野 源右衛門). Beautifully painted with great details all around.
